Chances are slim that I’ll be able to run this, but wow, is this tempting. The same guys who organised the Cape Epic, their attention now turns to trail running. From the website:
On the 16th of October, runners start at Africa’s Southern Cape Coast, heading up steep hiking trails, threading through forest singletrack and enduring the harsh elements before arriving at their final destination, the Cape Winelands.
Not sure if it’s tougher than the Pennine Challenge though, although it’s a single day event.
Some more info: Limited to 100 runners this year, with numbers increasing to 1000 in 2008. The longest run day is 60km and the shortest 30km. I can’t wait for next year, definitely going to give it a try.
