Club Run

Uncategorized

Last night I joined our Monday night club run, a 10km run along Sea Point boulevard. The only club runs I normally do are the time trials, so this was a new run, although a very familiar route. The run started out well, but after about 500m my ankle started acting up again. The pain was bearable, so I carried on running, enjoying the easy pace of about 5:30 min/km.

After around 6km, the group stopped and lined up for a “measured km.” Now my competitive heart started beating, surely I could run fast on this ankle for just a few minutes? Well off I went, and the ankle felt fine, well that’s not true, I couldn’t even feel it. I ended up running the km in 3:08, which isn’t bad, considering my fitness level at the moment. But as soon as I slowed down, I could feel the ankle again, which is weird. Overall, an enjoyably run, a bit slow for me normally, (besides the measured km) but it was nice to be able to catch up with the other runners.
