So this blog was an idea to help motivate me through the comrades training schedule. I plan to run the Comrades Marathon next year, but have not set a goal time. At the moment, I don’t have a consistent running partner for the comrades, so I’ll use this blog as motivation. They say a public statement is a great form of motivation, and what better one than a blog?
As for time, I know I’m capable of a Bill Rowan (sub 9 hours), but will wait and see after I’ve completed a few marathons. Yes, I have not completed a marathon yet… but I’ve got plenty of time. I’ve completed a few 21km and quite a few 10km races. My PB are the following, with my goal times in brackets:
- 21km : 1:45 (1:30)
- 10km : 41:00 (38:00)
- 5km : 18:50
I have chosen the current Don Oliver training schedule on the Comrades site for the Bill Rowan medal, which I hope is doing the right thing. Please feel free to comment on any of the posts here.
